Nearing Sample Making

After attending the LA Textile Show on Monday, I discovered more suppliers for fall fabrics and even a contractor to take care of all pattern grading and even sample making. This can really come in handy if I become overwhelmed closer to the Fashion Show date in November.

With the press release being taken care of elsewhere, I am getting closer to breaking away from my laptop to take care of correspondence and getting closer to my pattern table! I can't wait to get started! There are so many great pieces to be made for this event!

I hope the collection is well received and the concept sits well with the audience present. I think boutiques that cater to the same client I do will be happy with my results.

We'll see!

It's near: Men's T-Shirt Launch!!!

I am happy to say that the graphics needed for 2 men's t-shirts are complete. I also launched a poll on which t-shirt is better: American Apparel, or regular cut tees. Fortunately, a lot of young men responded to it and I have chosen my men's tee: American Apparel!

During the Fashion Show scheduled for November, there will be 2 men's tees raffled-off. Tickets will be available for purchase at the event and all cash collected will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Contributing to help the fight against breast cancer is a matter very close to this company.

Stay tuned-in for the announcement of the release of Bustees' Men's Tees!

Hustled: dealing with stealing

So much has changed since my last post. Let me start a bit further back...

Toward the end of last year, I had a colleague who was working on my company's icon. When time was coming up on the deadline, my colleague vanished off the face of the Earth with 1/2 of the money I paid her and the majority of the artwork (aside from a few proofs). She vanished from Facebook, from the phone book, you name it.

Beside myself, I tried to troubleshoot the situation then a light bulb went off in my head. During my studies at Loyola Marymount University, I had quite the interesting History of Graphic Arts professor...and I still had his contact info. He was shocked of my situation and told me about a message board where graphic artists convene. He recommended I join and ask if anyone is available to help me.

I did. It was the best thing to happen to my brand at that point. I met Andrea who has such a wonderful portfolio and she started from scratch to design my company's icon. The work she did was more than I could have hoped for! My brand was back on track with an identifiable, classy, icon for all to see.

To this day, I have yet to hear from my former colleague...but I do get spam from her email address from time to time...
